It’s a ‘Berry’ full pornucopia
All of 24, Tara Alisha Berry has faced enough adversity. Coping with her father Gautam Berry’s death two months ago, being involved in a legal tussle with her half-brother Sikandar Kher and working her way into the industry — this youngster is a tough nut to crack. Showing no signs of strain, the chirpy lass gets candid about her debut film Mastram, directed by Akhilesh Jaiswal of Gangs of Wasseypur fame.
The shooting has concluded, and Tara-Alisha (fondly called Taasha) cannot get enough of Manali’s beauty. “The crew was small and we bonded like a family,” she claims. Mastram was India’s most famous porn writer, who aspired to reach the ranks of Gulzar and Premchand. Rahul Bagga of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana reprises the role of Mastram and Tara Alisha plays his wife. Was this feisty girl skeptical of making her debut with a subject that could be perceived as risque? “Absolutely not. One would imagine a story like this would ruffle feathers but I really loved the script when I first read it. Akhilesh and I instantly connected. He has made the film very aesthetically and it’s not going to make you squirm in your seat.” She has done acting courses in California and Mumbai, worked in the casting department at Yashraj Films. Apart from that, her mother Nandini Sen is an actor and her late father was deeply involved in the industry too. “I am growing and learning everyday. I never took my background for granted, as I know star kids don’t have it easy. We have to live up to expectations all the time.”
However, she is enjoying her stint and claims the experience is ‘terrifying, exhilarating and scary all at once’ She is starting another film with producer Anees Bazmee’s associate very soon.
