Iqbal returns to television as Devdas
Iqbal Khan is back on television after a long hiatus of two years. And now he’ll be seen sharing screen space with veteran Bollywood actress Aruna Irani in a serial titled Sanjog Se Bani Sangini which is shot extensively in Haridwar.
The story of this serial is inspired from the superhit film Devdas and Iqbal will be playing the lead protagonist. Khan says, “Yes, it’s been a long gap and I am more than happy to be back in serials. But I won’t call it a second innings really, I’m pretty much continuing from where I had left off.”
However, he does admit that shooting for Sangini has been a hectic ride. Ask him about his experience of working with Aruna Irani and he says, “It feels great to be working with her. She’s so full of life.”
Iqbal has flirted with Bollywood too, albeit briefly. His early films Fun2shh and Bullet did not do wonders to his career. But the spirited actor says, “Films are a tricky bargain. There are big films with huge stars that flop. I’m not from a film background. So it’s not easy for me. And anyway, I’m not thinking of getting into films now.”
