‘Indian cricket fans are loyal to the game’
It is very clear that cricketer Dwayne Bravo loves to dance. The West Indies player often breaks into impromptu dance moves whenever he gets a wicket or a simple request from fans. In Delhi at the Adidas store to meet and greet his fans, Bravo was least hesitant to show his Gangnam moves when requested.
“Everyone likes celebrating a wicket with a dance. It is a lot of fun actually. Also, it is another way of connecting with the fans and entertaining them,” said Bravo explaining the reason behind his famous jigs.
Celebrations are high on the Chennai Super Kings bowler’s list as he has become the highest wicket-taker of IPL 6. Bravo, with 24 wickets at 17.29 runs apiece in 15 matches, is the leading wicket-taker, and like a good teammate he gives credit to his team for his achievements.
“I make a conscious effort to do the right thing for the team. For me, it is far more important to excel in order for the team to be in a better position. While I do respect the appreciation I have received, it is far more important that I play as a part of the team and that we perform well together,” explained Bravo.
However, the player thanks IPL for bringing him closer to cricketers from other countries. Talking about his experience, Bravo says, “The good thing about IPL is that it brings together a lot of players in a team. A lot of us end up playing and sharing a changing room with people we would never have imagined of earlier, and we end up becoming better friends.”
For now, Bravo is enjoying his Indian experience and hopes to be a part of next IPL season. “I love the people. I love that they support cricket to such a large extent and appreciate what cricketers do. Indian cricket fans are loyal to the game. They turn out in vast numbers to cheer for their team and players visiting from outside. It’s very encouraging to have such support,” he ends.
