I can take my own decisions: Aalia
Young, enthusiastic and a powerhouse of talent, Aalia Bhatt is the new kid on the block. Born in a filmy family, was Aalia destined to be an actor? “I don’t think so,” she smiles adding, “For the world, Mahesh Bhatt is my father but for me, he is papa.
At home we don’t have a round table discussion about the art of filmmaking. As a rule, we don’t talk about work at home.”
Nineteen-year-old Aalia says that she didn’t consult her parents before signing Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year. “I might be young but I can take my own decisions. I completed my SSC, when I auditioned for the role and my parents came to know about it only when I signed the film,” says Aalia who doesn’t regret being a school dropout.
Speaking about her elder sis Pooja Bhatt she says, “I’m very close to Pooja and she is very protective of me. We meet as often as our schedules allow us to.”
Like most celeb kids, losing weight was Aalia’s predicament too. “I had to lose 16 kgs,” she says rolling her eyes. “Karan wanted me to look thin and hence I gave up eating chocolates and cakes and started working out. I intend to stick to that regime,” she adds.
We ask her if she’d want to do a film with her father or uncle Mukesh Bhatt. “That option is always open. But a lot will depend on where SOTY takes me,” she signs off.
