Husain’s tribute to musicians
Toys are not just the fascination of kids. An interesting piece can even grab the attention of the grown ups. At an upcoming exhibition, “The Big Canvas”, two toys made by artist MF Husain are being displayed and art lovers are talking about it.
Siddhartha Tagore, director, Art Bull and owner of gallery, Art Consult, that is holding the exhibition, says that it’s one of the most interesting aspects of the exhibition. “Works by Husain saab have always been in demand and we are bringing something very interesting. The two toys that are on display are Husain’s tribute to the musicians. Husain saab started making wooden toys early in his career. It’s said that the first wooden toy series that Husain created was dedicated to one of his sons. Later, he created many figurative toys that he dedicated to artisans, musicians and others who inspired him. The toys that are on display are from the works he created in the1960s,” says Tagore.
The toys are a part of an avid collector’s work. Tagore says that the collector has more in her kitty, however, some of them have been disintegrated and thus aren’t being displayed. “By the end of the year, these two toys along with some paintings of Husain will become a part of an auction,” says Tagore.
