How to beat the traffic with a click

Gone are days when traffic woes were the bane of motorists. A group of youngsters have come up with a novel venture where in people can identify traffic congested areas in their cities using their mobiles! “Blockout Traffic” is a mobile application developed by Rohit R.K., Nithin Bose, Pratheeksha A.K. and Mahesh Mohan of AmidRay Technologies.

India’s first free and easy traffic mobile application, Blockout Traffic app makes travelling in cities easier for commuters. The app displays names of roads and locations in the users’ area, where there is a traffic block within 25 – 30 km radius. “We released the app in the Android market. It is a free app. We call it the people’s app,” says Pratheeksha, CEO of Amid Ray. Blockout Traffic app can be accessed using a ‘list view’ and ‘map view’ as well.
“List view can be loaded faster. Map view takes longer to load, but the blocks can be seen clearly using the map view,” explains Pratheeksha. AmidRay, founded in 2011, launched their first app nearly eight months after they set foot into business. The team is planning to extend the app’s functioning across the world.
