Healing through colours
Does art have the power to heal? These women in the medical profession certainly seem to think so. Led by radiologist and philanthropist Dr Sunita Dube, the women’s wing of Medscape India, recently organised an exhibition of paintings to promote women’s empowerment.
Artists Bharti Gajar, Dr Pushpa Gaikwad, Pinu Koraida, Sucheta Mundhse and Harsha Panchal displayed their works at an exhibition held in Mumbai.
Dr Dube said the show focused on “the fighting spirit that every woman in India carries within her”, and encouraged women to become more self-reliant.
“A woman has the power to create, nurture and transform, she is the epitome of spiritual strength and should never be underestimated,” Dr Dube added. “One of the most courageous things women can do is identify herself, know who she is, what she believes in and where she wants to go.” The proceeds will be used for scholarship and welfare programmes meant for women.
