Haryana boy to make DU safe for women
This year the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election results ushered in good news for National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), as the much sought after position of DUSU president was won by NSUI’s candidate Ajay Chhikara, who claimed the post by a margin of 2,362 votes in the elections. This 23-year-old final year student from the faculty of law, who hails from a small place in Haryana, is gearing up to bring Delhi University at par with international institutions.
Talking about his plan of action Ajay informs that during his tenure he will try to make DU a world-class university. He says, “We will work towards the betterment of this institution by providing facilities for foreign exchange students, by updating safety for girls, upgrading libraries in the colleges and fixing the hostels. We will try to do our best to help out the students, who come from various cities and study in Delhi.”
The young leader revealed that he recently met Congress politician and youth icon Rahul Gandhi, who congratulated him on his victory. He said, “I was excited to meet Rahulji and it was very encouraging when he praised me for this success. I will be holding the post of DUSU president for one year, and he advised me that during this time period I should do my best to help the students, who showed faith and voted for me in the elections.”
