‘Greek god image is no longer the prototype’
Luv U Soniyo, an upcoming film by Joe Rajan, has actors Tanuj Virwani and Neha Hinge in lead roles. They talk about how different their love story is from the other films. “The director has tried to bring back the era of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge through this film. Young people can relate to this story,” says Neha.
For Tanuj, Luv U Soniyo is more about college life and what young people did in those five years. “Deadlines from home, `100 pocket money and how you would have to make ends meet within that small sum and so many other things. In college things were different from school. You got more freedom from parents who thought you were studying. The friends you make in college are usually friends for life,” explains Tanuj.
While the two agree that there is too much candyfloss in the reel world, they believe that sometimes films such as these help make the audience relax too. “There is so much of politics and war and bombings going around the world that at the end of the day if the person wants to enjoy a film with his family, he should feel satisfied, content and happy at the entertainment being provided. I have nothing against people making dark cinema but you can’t come out of the hall saying, ‘He Bhagwan, what did I see,’” says Tanuj.
Rati Agnihotri’s son Tanuj, who has signed a three-film deal, says he believes in making his own name. “I have had to give many auditions before I was selected for the film. Just the Greek god image is not the prototype that Bollywood wants anymore,” he says.
