Glow getters
Every work place demands a different look. And every profession demands one to wear your make up appropriately. Beauty expert Sharmili Rajput, Oriflame, a Swedish Cosmetics major agrees with the statistics that women who wear make up earn 20 to 30 per cent higher incomes and shares her insights on how make up worn in the right manner can make you look far from frivolous. The right look for a corporate environment should project a competent and professional image. Although that might mean doing away with the glitter, it need not mean a bare-faced beauty.
Trendy at work
The trick is finding a look that enhances your natural beauty and suits your work profile. You can sport a formal look for the corporate sector or a semi-formal look for the lifestyle industry professionals. IT professionals, lawyers and teachers must avoid stark statements.
Since during the day one cannot sport very loud make-up, the idea is to highlight and not overwhelm. For a formal look, neutral colours work best. Dust a neutral shadow onto the eyelid, which will brighten up the face. Sweep something darker into the crease to create dimension. Choose from either a black or brown shade of mascara to match your complexion. One light coat of good quality mascara should be enough. Avoid wearing kohl and eyeliner as they can project a heavy made-up look. For the lips, use a clear gloss or lipbalm. If a lipstick suits you more, use a colour that compliments your complexion and still looks natural. Even though casual office makeup is not drastically different from formal looks, the key lies in the colours and styling.
For the savvy
professional
Advertising, PR and marketing professionals can go for light washes of colour and flirty long lashes. Apply a light skin colour powder foundation. Select from lighter lip shades in pinks, lavenders, light browns or orange. For eyeshadow, choose from shades such as peach, light pink, light brown that matches your skin tone. To add a dash of colour, shine up the crease of the eyes with a colour of your choice but make sure you're straying away from anything that's too contrasting. Apply single coats of mascara to give that sleek finish to the eyelashes. For the cheeks, use pinks and browns.
Mane matters
For a casual style, leave out your frontal hair and grab your hair into a low ponytail or a messy bun, or leave it half-up, half-down with a chic hair clip. For a more polished look, do a high ponytail or a tight bun with all your hair back and you are ready to take on the world.
