Gautam revs it up one more notch
Taking his passion for beautiful cars to the next level, tycoon Gautam Singhania is participating in a rally organised by luxury car makers Lamborghini in Italy. The rally, which is being held to mark Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, began on May 7 and closes tomorrow. Gautam is driving a Lamborghini Murcielago in the rally and is the only representative from India.
“It’s always an enthralling experience to drive a Lamborghini, whether on the roads or on the track. I was really looking forward to this tour,” said Gautam from Italy.
The grand tour is considered to be the biggest Lamborghini rally yet, and is being attended by owners and dealers from all over the world. Hundreds of vintage and modern day models of the super car have been making their way through 1,200 km of Italy’s roads. The brand’s first 350 GT to the latest Countach model are part of the rally.
Milan was the starting point for the rally, from where the participants moved on to Forte dei Marmi, on the Tyrhennian coast, touching Rome on Thursday, and are expected to traverse to Bologna, via Orvieto, today. On Saturday, all the cars will move towards the historic Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
While Gautam called the opportunity to be part of the rally an “honour and privilege”, Pavan Shetty, operations head for Lamborghini India, said, Mr Singhani’s “immense passion for super cars” made including him in the rally truly exciting.
