Forget vuvuzela, we want an Indianzula
Loved by many and hated by an equal number of people, vuvuzelas or Sockzela as they are being called will be here soon.
TMG Advisory Pvt. Ltd., an Indian boutique consulting firm is bringing the Sockzela, who were the official partners of Fifa at the World Cup.
Informs Sanjeev Bhandari, managing partner TMG Advisory Group, “The company Sockzela has the worldwide patent rights of the concept of any type of ‘covering/socks’ on Vuvuzela, hence the name Sockzela. We will import a few and in two months time we are manufacturing it for export purposes as well.”
Enthusiastic Delhiites are eager to own a vuvuzela or should we call it Sockzela. Some say that we must come up with something original of our own.
Says, Anthony Gangmei, a professional, “You bet I’m excited as ever since I saw it, I wanted to own it. However, it will also be nice if we also create a unique sound that will catch the fancy of sports lovers around the world just like what Fifa did with the vuvuzela.”
Amit Chopra, businessman suggests that we use the Indianised version of vuvuzela, which he’d like to call Indianzula. “We have had it for many years and it has played an important role in every child’s growing up years. Remember that stick, which had a balloon attached to it and when blown into creates a strange sound? Your local balloonwala used to sell it? Or how about promoting the bean that snake charmers use?”
Interestingly, Ruchika Kumar, a mediaperson, has a funny take on it. “Vuvuzelas can be the most innovative way of fooling mosquitoes into thinking that it’s a mating call and once they all come together on the field we can spray mosquito repellent and kill all of them. On a serious note, vuvuzelas should be used not on the field, but in Parliament, when the session is going on so that they can cut the noise pollution created by our high pitched politician,” she adds.
