Flaw fixers

You have the right make up kit and are all set for the party season. The only one thing topmost on your mind is to fix that tiny little flaw to look like a diva. There’s respite to cover that minor flaw with the right application of make up. Swati Gupta, creative director of Bodycraft Salon and Spa gives a lowdown on how to get these flaw fixers work for your benefit.

Fix your drooping eyes
Prime your eyes for make up application with light make up primer. Never use an eye shadow which is too dark as it will deep set the eyes further. Use a light beige or soft and light tones as it will give it a fresh look. You can use a slightly darker shade that complements the other shade to smoke out from the corner. Apply the lightest shade first. With a large soft-bristled eye-shadow brush apply the shadow just under your brow line, from the inside of your eye outward. Apply the slightly darker tone above your eyelashes on your upper lid. Place a mascara wand at the base of your lashes and gently sweep side to side as you move outward. Don’t follow the exact shape of your droopy eyes. Give the outer corner of the eye a slight tilt upwards which will lift and open up the eyes.

Get the right nose job
Follow the contouring and highlighting secret. Since darker colours make things appear smaller, you need to apply a darker shade to the areas that you want to look smaller. Contour the sides of the nose with a darker colour on both sides to make it appear narrow and follow it up with a lighter shade down the center of the nose. If your nose is too wide or flat, brush some blusher towards the center of your nose to make it appear thinner. Highlight the tips with a little sheen at the end.

For fuller lips
Always outline the outer line of the lips. There is a very discreet outer and an inner line. If your lips are very thin, then draw a line just a little beyond the upper line. Starting from the center of the lips, work your way out to the corner. For a perfect natural symmetry, start at the bottom center and fill in the lips, leaving no harsh lines and then just top it off with a natural gloss. Apply a bit of lip balm followed by a basic nude-coloured lip pencil along the Cupid’s bow of your upper lip. Finish with a dab of gloss in the center of your bottom lip to give you full big lips.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
