Ekta turns over a literary leaf
Ekta Kapoor’s next venture, Keshav Pandit, based on Ved Prakash Sharma’s novel, will now be aired on Zee TV. The show has got the soap queen excited, as she had started her career with Zee TV’s sitcom Hum Paanch.
“The concept of Keshav Pandit is something, which I have never attempted before. These stories are hugely popular across North India and our endeavour is to make it appeal to a national audience,” she said.
Revealing more about the title character, Ekta said that he is a dashing person in the classical mode. “I always wanted a leading personality, who would have a combination of both Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Keshav Pandit is just that. He is dashing as well as sweet,” she elaborated.
Ekta said she was not aware of the novel until her director brought it to her notice. “The book was not available in Mumbai in spite of being very famous in Allahabad. And even there, it was available only in Hindi. I eventually read the book in Hindi, and found the concept interesting enough to turn it into a serial,” Ekta said.
Sarwar Ahuja, who won Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj, will be playing the title role in Keshav Pandit. “Ekta has given me a good opportunity in this show. I have already shot the serial in Allahabad and Banaras for four continuous days,” Sarwar said.
Writer Ved Prakash Shama is also happy with the way his book has shaped up for the small screen.
