D.U. unites for love of sports
The sporty students of Delhi University got a chance to show their energy on the field at the “Delhi University Mini Olympic Sports Meet - 2013” organised by the NSUI. The week-long sports meet that began on Monday aims to promote sports among the youngsters.
The event includes eight different sports — cricket, football, basket ball, tug-of-war, table tennis, chess, athletics and badminton.
Rashid Alvi, AICC Spokesperson, who was invited as the chief guest on the first day of the event at Ramjas College appreciated the effort being taken by the students of Delhi University to revive sports activity in the campus. "This type of events provide great encouragement to the students active in sports," he said.
MLA Hari Shankar Gupta, who was also one of the guests at the event, lauded the role of Delhi University Students’ Union president, Arun Hooda for playing an important role in promoting extra-curricular activities.
In the opening game, Kirori Mal College beat Deshbandhu College in Basket Ball by 16 points.
