Draping six yards of elegance
Saris have been a favourite with Indian women since time immemorial. It is the quintessential, humble Indian clothing but not anymore—humble that is. With the new range of saris costing no less than tens of thousands of rupees, it is quite in the range of international designer outfits. It is being seen as a lifetime investment what with golden threads and diamond sequins decorating the fabric.
Raisons, a popular luxury handloom store in Delhi is house to such precious saris. Known to revive some old Indian techniques of handlooms like kantha, lucknowi, sozni, gota patti, phulkari, uppada, chanderi, and benarasi, the store boasts of a unique mix of old world simplicity with new age style. Little wonder then, that clientele from Bollywood and Delhi’s social circle are flocking to the store. The last we heard, Chitrangada Singh, Madhoo Jain and Mrs Ghulam Nabi Azad were seen walking out of the store after shopping to their heart’s content.
