Drape cape with AIDS message
Fashion trends grab instant eyeballs. Off and on, fashion industry has taken up social causes. The latest addition to the list is city-based designer Urvashi Kaur who has designed an AIDS red satin cape with the quote: ‘There is more to be done to fight AIDS than to wear this cape but it’s a good start. You look good and feel good’.
Talking about the cape, she says, “I chose the colour red because it is a powerful colour that evokes love and passion. I want to put across my message loud and clear. A cape is symbolic of an armour or a shield. In addition, it is easy to wear and looks good on any body type,” explains the young designer who feels that the youth are the harbingers of change in the society.
Asked why she chose to associate herself with the cause, she said, “AIDS is an issue that transcends geographies and can afflict anyone. For long, there has been a drive to educate people about its causes and means to prevent it. I chose to use fashion as a medium,” says Urvashi.
