Double delight for Tumblr users
Recently, Tumblr has been involved in some serious security gaffes — the website did not use a secure connection when its users logged into the social network from their mobile Apple devices, allowing other users with the right software on the same Wi-Fi network to intercept the login information. To make up for it, not only did the micro-blogging website fix it ASAP, it fired off a double update on Thursday by re-introducing activity feeds and also launching a new way to view notes.
For those not familiar with Tumblr, it’s a microblogging and social networking website that allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog.
The new Activity page lets you graph the latest activity on your blog, view your top fans and posts, and see all of your recent notifications. There’s also a new way to see notes that’s faster and highlights likes, reblogs and replies from people you follow!
Tumblr’s old activity feed was introduced in 2009 and discontinued just six months later. This time around, Tumblr really hopes the feature will be a crowd favourite.
