Double-decker debut for Indo-Aussie actor

Debutant actress Pallavi Sharda can’t hide her excitement as her first film Dus Tola is ready to hit the screens on October 22. She was recently in the capital and talked about her first project in Bollywood.

The Indian-Australian actress is well trained in Bharatnatyam for over 15 years in Chennai and Melbourne. Although she didn’t confirm, sources said that she would be performing at the Red Fort on the Mughal-e-Azam track for programme during the Commonwealth Games.
Talking about her experience as an actor in a Bollywood movie, she says it was a “dream come true”. She says, “The film is about a goldsmith, played by Manoj Bajpayee, who has a heart of gold and fights for his love till the end of the movie. I play the role of a dance teacher and had a great time shooting with the entire cast and crew.”
She may be born in Australia but her heart beats for India is what the actress told us when asked about her Australian connect. She says, “Delhi is as special to me as Melbourne. In fact, I think it’s a lucky coincidence that last time the CWG happened in Melbourne and this time it’s happening in Delhi. The best thing is I get to enjoy both the countries from time to time. When I am in India my heart longs for Australia and vice versa.”
The release day of Dus Tola is doubly special for Pallavi as that very day her Hollywood debut movie Walk Away is also releasing in New York.
She says. “It’s an independent crossover film shot in New York. In the movie, I play the role of a girl Sia, who is a fashion designer and she is married to an investment banker. Though this is an equally important film for me, I think I’ll be in India on October 22 for the release of Dus Tola.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
