DJ bares all for hockey’s sake
Lately, shedding clothes has become the name of the game. After model Poonam Pandey stripped on Twitter to cheer for Indian cricketers, it’s now the turn of Goa-based DJ Jenny D to make the most of the latest way of gaining quick fame. According to a report, Jenny wants to auction her nude photos and donate all the money to the Indian hockey team. She clarified her act and was quoted saying, “There were stories of our hockey players not being able to afford the right footwear before the final. The measly prize money was only adding insult to injury. Compare this to the way cricketers are treated.”
Sadly, DJ Jenny D’s idea of going naked to promote hockey is not going down too well with hockey enthusiasts. Jattin Gulati, an event manager and hockey fan quips, “It is sad and funny at the same time, the fact that someone wants to sell her naked pictures to get money for our hockey team is a slap in the face of hockey administrators in our country. Maybe it’s Jenny’s attempt to add glam factor to hockey and in return get some publicity for herself.”
However, Arjuna Awardee hockey player, Ashok Dhayan Chand Kumar thinks that there are many problems in the current hockey federation that need to be tackled immediately and adding glam factor to promote hockey isn’t the best way forward. He says, “The two bodies, Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and Hockey India, are the main authorities concerned with promoting hockey in our country. They lack funds to support the game on a bigger level. As compared to cricketers, our hockey players have to depend on every basic facility provided by the government.”
