(Dis)honour for worst of cinema
In a unique award function that celebrates the âworstâ of cinema, movie buffs in the capital gathered to (dis)honour some of the worst performances in Bâtown. To be taken with a pinch of salt, the 4th annual Golden Kela awards raised mixed emotions among its winners. With over seven lakh votes from audiences across the country, it gave the top honour for worst actor to Imran Khan for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan while Deepika swept the worst actor (female) for Aarakshan. Filmmaker Kanti Shah won the platinum kela for his excellence in cinema. Humbled by the gesture, he says, âItâs special because its been organised by true fans of my style of movie-making. I have been to other award shows as well, but this definitely is special being solely driven by fans of my movies.â Arunoday Singh, who accepted the Anti-Kela award on behalf of the team of Yeh Saali Zindagi says, âI think Sudhir should be the one accepting this. Iâm quite honoured and amused to accept this award. Itâs good to see this movie getting some recognition. And you guys obviously have a great choice.â Ra.One bagged the prize for worst film and worst direction. Other big winners of the night were Pratiek Babbar for his supporting act in Aarakshan, Pankaj Kapur for his directorial debut Mausam and Esha Deol for the worst comeback.
