Daring women bikers burn rubber
Women were on a roll as they rode away on bikes at the first ever All Women Bike Rally “Dilli Meri Hai”. While women rode the best of bikes including Royal Enfield, Harley Davidson, Avenger men accompanied them as pillions. More than 250 women participated in the rally organised by Navbharat Times and Radio Mirchi in association with DLF Place Saket. The rally aimed at reclaiming the city for its women.
Neetu Chandra and Jimmy Shergill were present to cheer city women on bikes. “I am thrilled to see so many women on bikes. I believe it’s the duty of men to give women a safe and secure place in the society,” says Jimmy. Neetu added that she came to encourage daring women participating in the rally. “I am not here as a celebrity but as a woman who wishes for women empowerment,” she says.
From students, working women, housewives, Delhi police to CISF officers, women from all age groups participated in the rally. Wearing a stylish red helmet Simran Kaur, a student, said that she wants to prove that women are good riders.
“Many men say that women are bad drivers and cannot handle city traffic. I want to show them that we can take to the roads just like them and are not just good but also safe riders,” says Simran.
