Crysis, a shot in the arm

If you play first person shooters then you must have heard of Crysis, a science fiction first person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. Crysis was widely appreciated by both the public and critics, particularly for its graphical design and unique gameplay. After releasing one expansion game Crysis Warhead in 2008, Crytek is finally set to release Crysis 2 this march. It will be the first game to use Cry Engine 3.
Leaving behind the tropical environment of the previous games, Crysis 2 is set in New York City in the year 2023 (three years after the events of the first game). Along with a new setting players also get a new suit. The Nanosuit 2 gives players more freedom in their selection of powers and how they want to approach different situations. The strength and speed modes from the first game have been replaced by a single Power Mode, Cloak mode has been modified to allow increased sensory inputs and animated melee stealth kills.
The story of the game is very compelling. This is not the usual “New York City in trouble and we have to save the day”. The city itself has a life in the game. A key aspect of the story in Crysis 2 is the locations you play through, and what they mean in the game world. The game will also attempt to answer questions raised by the first game
And of course, Crysis will have competitive online multiplayer with up to 12 players online. The game will offer a dozen multiplayer maps and six different modes: Instant Action, Team Instant Action, Assault, Capture the Relay, Crash Site and Extraction.
Crysis 2 is going to release on the March 25, 2011 on PC, XBOX 360 and the PS3. Like its predecessor, we are hoping Crysis 2 is going to set a new benchmark for first person shooters for years to come.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
