Colour crazy party frenzy
Here is a special day for our Delhi celebrities to party hard. Unlike other occasions when they are seen in their designer best, white will be the dress code as they step out to celebrate Holi tomorrow. The number of hot and happening Holi bashes is on the increase, and most people have their calendar crammed with party invites. Bashes with interesting themes and fun activities are the hot favourites.
Raul Chandra is organising his annual Holi Cow festival. The event has “Dental, Mental and Frontal” as a theme and will have over 40 top artistes from various genres of music performing at Zorba, MG Road. “The love for music, art, colour, madness, and friends getting together and having a great time is the reason why I started Holi Cow. Every year the theme gets quirkier. This year expect global art and music in a rustic, kitschy Indian mela setting,” says Raul, who believes Holi is every body’s festival. “Not just celebs, everyone loves Holi. It is that one day when you cannot be judged by the colour of your skin, your language, lineage or antecedents — you are a part of one big ball of colour, love and humanity. We are the colourfools, so what better day than Holi to celebrate that,” says Raul.
Swati Pandya Sood from Ferns n Petals is organising an authentic and clean Holi for friends. “We are following a very Indian theme, which is Vrindavan. Vrindavan is so closely associated with the festival of colours that nothing can fit a Holi party better than this. We are going to have a bed of roses, swings of jasmine and authentic natural colours. We’ll encourage people to play Holi with flower petals. It is a beautiful festival and we want people to maintain its spirit,” says Swati, who is also arranging for an authentic Indian spread. “There will be street food, chaat papri, south Indian and many items associated with Vrindavan. Of course Gujiya and thandai are a must,” adds Swati.
Party regular Anukant Dubey too is organising a party based on Vrindavani theme. “This is the thirteenth year when I am organising a Holi party. Since I come from Bihar, I felt the Holi culture in Delhi is dying and people are no longer interested in colours. I wanted my children and close friends to know what Holi is and started organising this annual Holi party. Every year, we follow a different theme and this year we are going to play Holi just the way Radha and Krishna celebrated the festival. There will be lots of flowers, jhoolas, colours and dress code is ghagra choli. By now, all my friends know what a real Holi party is and why not to miss one organised by me,” says Anukant who especially went to Hathras to get colours. “I want pure and safe colours at my party so that guests don’t face a problem the next day,” shares Anukant.
