Cheapest 5-inch ICS Phone?

This one is for all those who might not want to spend more than 10k on an Android smartphone, but still want a taste of higher end features.

Sanjay Kumar, GM - Mobile Business, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd. said, “At Intex, we endeavour to bring innovative mobile solutions to mobile users of today. Reaffirming our commitment to quality and pioneering technologies, the newly launched AQUA 5.0 smartphone is a step towards empowering consumers in smaller towns and cities with cutting edge technology at an affordable price.”
Intex managed to cram a lot of features into this phone. You get a 5-inch capacitive display, 3G connectivity, dual SIM support, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), a 5MP rear camera along with a 1.3MP front camera, an FM radio, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Did I mention a dual core ARM Cortex A9 clocked at 1GHz?
That’s quite a lot when you consider that they price the phone at `9,990, but if you peer a bit harder at the spec sheet you’ll see where they managed to cut costs. The 5-inch display has a 480x800 screen resolution which isn’t exactly ideal, but I guess it’ll pass for the price. Then there’s the 512 MB of RAM, which I've found inadequate for a modern smartphone, especially Android and iOS smart-phones (Windows Phone 7 devices don’t seem to suffer too much from a lack of RAM), and only 4GB of internal storage along with a 4GB microSD card. It supports up to 32GB of expanded storage, which isn’t a huge additional investment. However, the 2000mAh battery is only rated for 5 hours of talk time and 8 days on standby, which means charging more than once in a day.
All in all, it’s probably worth a try, though having not tested it personally, I can’t give it an all-out recommendation.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
