Celkon Mobile’s Budget ICS Phones
Celkon Mobiles has joined the likes of Intex, Xoloand Micromax and aims to deliver Android smart phones with screen sizes over 4 inches at the sub-Rs 10,000 price range.
A consistent trend that seems to be emerging with this segment is the use of MediaTek processors, presumably to keep the costs down.
Unfortunately, manufacturers seem to be simply listing the processors as “1GHz Dual Core”, instead of specifying them to be of MediaTek’s make. Celkon does the same, so I'm assuming these contain the MT6577SoC with a PowerVR SGX 531, similar to phones like the Xolo A700.
All three of the new phones, known as the A27, A220 and A225, feature the aforementioned dual core MT6577, a 480x854 resolution display, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 2 cameras, dual-SIM functionality, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
The differences between the three models lie between the camera quality, screen size, and battery capacity; of course the prices are different too, albeit within `900 of each other. Both A27 and A225 have an 8MP rear and 2MP front camera, while the A220 has a 5MP rear and a 1.3MP front camera.
The A27, A220 and the A225 have 1800mAh, 2000mAh and 2100mAh batteries respectively, with the difference in screen size being smaller than 0.07 between the three models. The A225 has the largest screen at 4.7”.
