From calendar dates to film dates…

Lasini, beauty pageant winner, model and dancer, is all set to enter Kollywood with her debut film, Moondru Peru Moondru Kaadhal. Though born and brought up in Mumbai, she says she is a Tamilian at heart.
She did not really plot the course her career would take, she points out. Firstly, she was fat as a kid and could not imagine that she would become a model. In college, Lasini did a degree in mass communications “which gave me insight into the glam and film world.”
Modelling offers began coming her way after she finished 3rd runners-up at the I Am She Miss Universe India beauty pageant. Thereafter came the Kingfisher Calendar Hunt. “It was an amazing, gruelling experience: having to compete with models from all over India, constantly being criticised for your looks but working with the best of fashion photographers, designers, etc. I eventually finished in the top four,” she says
She did have the initial inhibitions about modelling, “As long as I’m confident that the team will present me in the best way possible, I’m happy with it,” she says sagely. Modelling has its creative limitations, she realises, and it’s time now to take her next step — acting.
