Bringing haute couture to you

“I knew fashion was for me ever since I was four years old. It’s a passion I continue to nurture till today,” says Sana Rezwan who runs the elite fashion boutique Maison in Bengaluru.

Looking like a diva herself, Sana helps those with a bent towards haute couture, customise their wardrobes. “Customising ward-robes is catching up in a big way and so is online shopping. My online retail website maison-boutique.com delivers brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, Givenchy, Thakoon, Joseph and Preen to your doorstep.”
After a course in Psychology from the University of Nottingham and a BA in Fashion Marketing from the American InterContinental University, London, she completed her MA in Fashion Buying at Istituto Marangoni, London.
Sana, who is part of the Razack family of Prestige Builders fame, says, “I consciously made a decision to stay within the luxury arena of the fashion industry. My undergrad thesis focussed on the perception high-end goods have on contemporary luxury brands vs. heritage luxury brands. I have also worked in the buying departments of Giorgio Armani and Stella McCartney.”
Sana always ensures that she is up-to-date with global trends and thus spends her time reading several blogs, e-zines, fashion magazines and always has an eye on global runways. “I have a trend forecasting app on my iPhone which gives me minute-wise updates on what’s happening worldwide.”
Talking about her other passions, Sana adds, “I am a food purist with an attraction towards haute cuisine. My favourite restaurants are Edo in Bengaluru, Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago, Yashin in London and Frenchie in Paris.”
She loves taking off on holidays whenever time permits, “The best holiday for me is anywhere by the beach, I’m learning to surf so I’m trying to visit places that allow me to train more. Also, art history excites me in unimaginable ways and I would give up anything to visit a museum on my travels. The Victoria & Albert in London is an all-time favourite, but recently I visited the Art Institute of Chicago to see the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit and it was exceptionally curated,” she says.
Sana unwinds by either hitting the pool in the summers or the spa in winters. Revealing the secret behind her well-toned bod, she says, “I work out four times a week with either yoga, swimming or a brisk walk. I eat healthy and drink lots of water.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
