Bring down plastic walls
Remember the old joke when a school teacher would always insist on opening the windows to “let the environment come in”? Well, minus the incorrect grammar, the man did have a point, which is even more applicable in today’s times. Living, travelling and working in concrete jungles, most of us have forgotten how it might be to live amidst nature. Architect Pooja Dogra, GM for marketing and creatives, at Creons Advertising tells us about livening the space by creating natural walls.
Elemental Forces: One can always incorporate natural elements such as brick and stone in the interiors by creating a brick wall and having plants over it or recessing it to create niches in an aesthetic manner.
Styling: The renowned architect, Laurie Baker, has devised various ways to use brick to create different kinds of shelving pattern. Similarly, stones can be used in various shapes and sizes to create interesting moulds as well. There could be an innovative use of hanging gardens with special plants and creepers grown on the wall that would otherwise not survive the heat outside. Maintenance: A stonewall does not require any levelling to be done and is cost effective, saving on the cost of POP and paint. These elements are durable and help in controlling the microclimate by keeping the interiors cool and the temperatures steady.
