Bridging boundaries with music
Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. It has the power to bridge all the boundaries. “Sabrang”, a musical concert organised by Kalahetu in the capital recently, was an attempt to do the same. The event saw the coming together of acclaimed musicians — Akbar Ali (vocalist) from Lahore, Pakistan; Mohd Amaan (vocalist) from Jaipur and Hafiz Ahmed Alvi (tabla maestro) from Delhi.
Kalpana Verma, organiser of the event, said, “Sabrang literally means all colours. But in this context it means all colours of music. This concert is an attempt to promote good and harmonious relations between the two countries.”
Tabla player Hafeez says it’s a great opportunity to perform at the event with artistes from Pakistan. “India and Pakistan have very rich, vibrant and similar musical backgrounds. It becomes easier for the people from both the countries to trace back their culture and roots and generate peace and amity between the two nations,” he says.
