Breather from Delhi summer

Summer in Delhi is dreadful. Now, with water and electricity woes to boot, the situation is even worse. It’s no wonder then that most of our celebrities are on a break and holidaying with their loved ones.

We asked some of them to share their plans with us.

For the past 25 years, it’s always been a family vacation. Holidays are the only time to we spend with each other without any restrictions. We’ve already completed our Indian side of the vacation and are looking forward to our trip to the US. Our entire family, including our dogs travelled to Mussoorie and spent some wonderful time with one another. My dogs are like my children and our holidays are incomplete without them. We’re now planning to go to America for a family wedding. I am really excited, as it’s going to be a grand family affair.

I am just back from a two-week trip to the Canadian Rocky mountains and at present am in London. It was an absolutely amazing trip. I flew to Vancouver, and then by the Rocky Mountaineer luxury train to Banff National Park. From there I headed to Lake Louise and then to the spectacular Jasper National Park. Stunning lakes and amazing wildlife — I spotted grizzly black bears, moose, elks and mountain goats. It was totally worth it!

Like every year we are starting our holiday in Bosnia visiting my family and friends. This year we started our holidays in the mountains (Romanija). It’s so beautiful with pristine nature and one of the highest ozone-rich places in Europe. It’s great for improving one’s immune system and many people who are suffering from asthma and breathing problems come here to recover. Post Delhi air this is very refreshing. After this, we will go to my home town of Tuzla which is a beautiful and quiet place and I am looking forward to seeing all my friends and family there. The second stage of the holiday will be spent in Belgrade, a metropolis with great sightseeing, partying and shopping and we will finish our vacation on the Croatian coast which has the most amazingly beautiful sea where I’m looking forward to sunbathing and enjoying the local seafood specialties! By the time we are through with everything we will be missing Delhi and will look forward to coming back.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
