Bonding time goes spa-cial

Sitting upon heaps of work at your office desk, even the thought of a rejuvenating spa session over weekend is enough to lift your mood. But then you also want to spend some quality time with your partner. Now you need not pick and choose amongst them. The spas in the city are offering viable solutions.
Couple spas is one of the hottest services in the spa industry, where two people are massaged in the same room, at the same time, by two different therapists. This service is not limited to partners alone, but finds takers among best friends, mothers and daughters. “Massages to lighten up your mood, scrubs to loosen up the tensed muscles and aromatherapy to refresh your spirits help in bonding,” says Naunihal Singh, founder, Strands Spa.
Head massage, full body massage, sauna, and aromatherapy are popular options. The ‘couple sessions’ are held in special suites and offer an array of packages. “Couple spas also work as a good choice if you are travelling with someone you don’t get to see often. The duration of couple treatments varies from 60 to 90 minutes,” says Poonam Sharma, director, Vedic Spa Mantra. Scented candles, beautiful interiors and soulful music create a positive ambience.
“We offer a varied range of couple spa therapies like Swedish massage, lymphatic massage, deep tissue massage and ayurvedic massage. Our clients can also customise services according to their choice,” adds Anita Kaushal, founder, Tattva. Seema Rajpal, who loves to indulge in couple spa, says, “My husband was reluctant in the beginning, but after much coaxing he agreed for a session. He loved the pampering and we got to spend time together.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
