Bermudas are back in vogue
If you are a girl from the 90s decade, dig into your closet. Bet you will lay your hands on a pair of bermudas. Unmistakably, bermuda shorts were the “it’ attire then and now it’s time to revisit the not so old days. To clear the doubts, Hollywood star Halle Berry loves strolling in bermudas on her many shopping sprees at LA boulevards. For more assurances, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria too, is making style statements in bermudas.
Our designers are going bermuda happy as well this season. Designer duo Kapil and Monika are endorsing it. As Kapil says, “Bermudas are coming back in fashion, as they are the perfect outfit to wear this summer and also during the monsoon. Another point that works in its favour is the unisex appeal of the garment.”
Monika lays out the trendy bermuda route. “The typical striped patterns in blues, whites, yellows worn with a bright coloured T-shirt are in fashion for men, while girls can sport the baggy bermudas in vibrant colours with either a racer back T- shirt or a plain sleeveless bright coloured top,” she says.
Designer Pankah Ahuja provides the details that leave no room for mistakes, as he suggests, “This season is all about fit and narrower bermudas and it should not be higher than an inch above the knee. If you want to break free from the cliché then go for a semi formal look. Pair the bottoms with a halter or turtle neck black top and slip into high heels. Accessories like a smart neck piece can enhance your look in a big way.”
Counting on its vogue factor, Sanjay Sahni, MD Ritu Wears points out, “Bermudas are trendy as they not just spell fashion but also provide a certain comfort zone. They are airy in this scorching heat, walk out of the house teaming it with a pair of flip flops, and a tee flaunting a casual and summery yet trendy look. A little bit of innovation is always welcome, so play with prints and colours and you could just be the perfect summer girl.”
