Battle the rains with some Jäger
There is no better time to bring out that bottle of Jägermeister than the rains. This German digestif that is a product of 56 herbs and spices though served cold, is the best solution for someone who doesn’t want a rainy day cocktail to be just Hot Toddy. Despite being served cold, it brings with it an incredible amount of warmth.
Jäger’s ingredients include 56 herbs, fruits, roots and spices including citrus peel, licorice, anise, poppy seeds, saffron, ginger, juniper berries and ginseng. These ingredients are ground, then steeped in water and alcohol for two to three days. This mixture is then filtered and stored in oak barrels for about a year. When a year has passed, the liqueur is filtered again, mixed with sugar, caramel, alcohol and water. It is filtered one last time and then bottled. The result of this one-year process is a digestif that presents a riot of flavours in just one sip. While the most popular cocktail involving the Jäger is the Jäger Bomb (a shot glass of the digestif in a glass of Red Bull), bartenders recommend that it is best consumed neat.
