Back in the spotlight

She left her fans heartbroken when she bid adieu to the big screen at the peak of her career, so the amount of interest being generated by Karisma Kapoor’s comeback film, Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishq, is understandable.
With everyone from her director to her fans looking forward to seeing her on screen again, Karisma says there are two people who are more excited than most: sister Kareena and daughter Samaira.

“Samaira is very excited about seeing her mom on screen,” Karisma says. “And of course, Kareena is also very happy and supportive about the fact that I will be acting again. I’m really hoping that I can do justice to my fans’ expectations,” she adds.
The long break doesn’t seem to have hindered Karisma, when it came to facing the cameras again.
“It felt great to be back in front of the cameras. It didn’t seem as if I was away that long!” she says, adding, “The industry has definitely undergone some changes since my last stint. For instance, the equipment we are using to shoot Vikram’s film is highly sophisticated and the filming techniques used are also very different from the way they used to be.”
Apart from films, Karisma has also been seen on the small screen, endorsing select brands, and the actress says she is very careful about the brands she chooses, “As a mother of two, my children’s health is always on my mind. So if I’ve chosen to be a brand ambassador for a certain product, it’s because I believe it is good for kids.”
As for Karisma, it’s a glass of juice and some nuts before she heads for the gym that keeps her going and keeps her fit. “For me, a good workout is crucial. But of late, all the running around I do for my kids also helps me stay fit,” she says.
Karisma admits that she has to do a fine balancing act to ensure she devotes as much time as needed to all her commitments. “As a mother, I want to spend as much time with my two children as possible. Family will always be a priority for me, in spite of continuing with my work and my films,” Karisma says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
