‘Architecture inspires me’
When we met British designer Jeremy Brandrick amidst the numerous apparel hanging on extended hangers at Sher Singh’s head office in Okhla, he greeted us with the most amicable smile and told us how he loves to juggle his personal and professional life with the greatest ease. We caught up with the designer who was in the capital to talk about the launch of his latest sportswear line for men.
“When I was asked to work for a cricket-inspired collection for Sher Singh, the first thing that I wanted to incorporate in the sportswear line was the heritage of cricket in India,’’ mentions Jeremy. He says, “I am English and we have a natural liking for cricket; back home we play this game all the time and I have grown up admiring cricketers like Ian Botham and Don Bradman. When I was designing the tees, I used the logo and crest of two lions and two intercrossed cricket bats beneath that.”
“The look of the tees is very causal and they will remind you of a sporty, collegiate collection, which men of any age group can wear at any informal occasion. There are 25-30 polo shirts available in different shades. We have also designer matching accessories in different styles to go with these,” he adds.
Jeremy Brandrick, who graduated from the prestigious Central St. Martins College in London has previously designed for international high-end brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Nicole Farhi and Mulberry before he launched his own New York-based bridal line.
Jeremy, who is currently based in New York says that technology is a boon for him as he spends a lot of time travelling. Speaking about his love for travelling across the world, he reveals that most of his designs are inspired by interesting elements of architecture and photography. He says, “I love to travel. I like to visit the Mediterranean and Europe every time I take a vacation. I have also travelled a little bit in India as I keep coming here for work. I love Indian food and I am planning to take a few days off and see more of the country in coming days.”
