All ‘Sait’ for a Bollywood dhamaka

Kubra Sait

Kubra Sait

Kubra Sait is on a high and for good reason too. She’s got the look, and has no inhibitions flaunting her long legs, curly locks, hazel eyes and an hourglass figure. Yet, there’s more to this Bengaluru girl. She has just finished acting in the movie I Love NY with Sunny Deol and Kangna Ranaut, that’s slated for release in April.

Kubra who won the 2009 Miss Personality from Durban in the 18th Miss India Worldwide says, “I play Kangna’s roommate and a soul sister. We are the best of friends. I am an easy-going effervescent friend who doesn’t think twice before saying what she thinks to her closest friend. So the character I play is very real.”
I Love NY will be a perky role for this young lady and marks the return of Sunny Deol after a hiatus. Talking about her time shooting with Sunny and Kangna, she shares, “You can see the man smile through his eyes. We bonded so well. Kangna is very down-to-earth and so easy to work with. We ended up talking about our hair products all the time, as we both have curly hair. We also ate a lot of khakhras.”
So how did she decide to take to acting, we wonder. “I was always playing male characters in all my school acts. I played the convict in Bishop’s Candlesticks, Antonio in The Merchant of Venice and many such roles. I have just finished acting in a movie by Sai Kabir called Single Chal Riya Hoon.”
Currently shuttling between Mumbai and Bengaluru, since her family lives in the city, she says, “Bengaluru will always have a special place in my heart. I used to ride my bike, work on events and hang out with my brother Danish Sait who hosts a show on radio.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
