All hail king korn

Heavy metal fans in the capital are in for a treat today. The Grammy award winner American band from the 90s – Korn is all set to kickstart their Indian rock adventure with their first performance in Guragon’s Leisure Valley Grounds as part of their three-city Path of Totality tour by Mooz Entertainment. The Freak On a Leash hitmakers have made it clear that they are Here To Stay in the hearts of their fans.
At the press conference, the three members of the band —Jonathan Davis, Ray Luzier and James “Munky” Shaffer — revealed what went behind the composition of their tenth album The Path of Totality, which also features various electronic music producers like Skrillex, Noisia and other independent artistes.
The moniker of this album has an interesting story too, about which Shaffer informs, “I was watching a documentary on eclipse where they mention the phenomenon of totality. It’s when the moon’s shadow covers the sun entirely. We thought this is an apt name for us. We too covered a whole lot of musicians in this album.”
Talking about the transition from hardcore heavy metal to electronic infused beats, Jonathan says, “It is an experimental album as we wanted to try out various sounds. At this stage we hardly care about criticism and we are open to introducing various beats with our music. When we started our fans liked the pure heavy metal music, but new sounds appeal to teenagers more. It’s nice to see grown-ups bringing their teenage kids to our concert; they come for the old songs whereas young kids enjoy new songs more.”
In the past few years many international bands and musicians performed in India, so what took Korn so long to finally plan a trip? The band says, “The culture of heavy metal is in every country and we are here to play for our fans, who follow our music. After a long Europe trip, India is the last leg of our tour. We have not prepared anything special and we are totally clueless about what we are going to play here. It will all come naturally on the stage. We have come here with an open mind.”
The organisers too are leaving no stone unturned to avert any mishaps that occurred in the past concerts.
Rashmi Kant, chairman, Mooz Entertainment, informs, “There is a big space for the concert with an equally huge food and beverage area nearby so that the fans don’t feel uncomfortable. Right from the parking area to the stage there will be diversions and people can move around without causing chaos. There won’t be any delay in the security checks so that no mob-like situation arises at any point.”
