Akon concert evokes scepticism and cheer
Merely a month after the Bryan Adams concert got cancelled, here’s another promising treat for Delhiites. As Akon is coming on April 16 to perform in Gurgaon, a host of Akon fans tell us how the chaos last month over Bryan Adams concert has made them apprehensive about buying tickets again.
“I won’t go for an Akon show, as I don’t like hip-hop or rap, but those who do think it’s a dicey situation should book their tickets when they know the show is definitely happening,” warns Nikita, a PR professional.
A limited budget is making many youngsters think twice about buying tickets. “Akon just performed sometime back, so there’s nothing really to look forward to. I’ve spent a lot once on Bryan Adams, I don’t think I can afford to ask for more money from my parents for concerts which may or may not happen. Plus, `1,500-`3,000 is not a small amount. For me, April is dedicated to IPL,” avers Puneet Khanuja, an engineering student.
But for ardent fans, there’s nothing like humming Akon’s best tracks with him. Planning to come down from Chandigarh, Shikha, an engineering student, tells us, “For ardent fans it doesn’t really matter if the Bryan Adams concert was a spoiler. I will definitely come once I’m sure the concert is really happening. But at the same time, I hope it’s not another way to make money from thousands of fans. The Bryan Adams concert created a stir among people and since it got cancelled at the last minute, I’m sure many music lovers felt dejected.”
