Aiming for the sky

While many might not be aware of the name Bunty Sajdeh, it’s one to reckon with in the field of talent management.
Having handled the likes of Saurav Ganguly, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan, Bunty is ahead in a field that is now becoming very lucrative in India. “Talent management has not even seen five per cent of its full potential in this country,” he says adding that projects are often lost due to the high-handedness of celebrities.
Without naming anyone he says, “Celebrities often forget that it is a two-way street; a give-and-take situation. Besides, the number of brands outweigh the number of celebrities any day.”
Having started off his career in entertainment with brother- in-law and actor Sohail Khan, Bunty later joined tennis ace Mahesh Bhupati in his sports and celebrity management company, GloboSport.
Apart from strengthening his foundation in the industry, the stint also gave him some of his best friends. “I met Sushmita Sen and Yuvraj Singh through my work there and those two always made me believe that I had the potential to branch out and do something on my own,” says the young entrepreneur who has just returned from a trip to the US to see his friend Yuvi who is recovering from cancer.
Bunty, who at one point, was touted as the most eligible bachelor, party boy and arm candy in the industry, laughs off the claim. “It’s hilarious how the media comes up with these tags. I was doing just about anything that a boy in his twenties would do. I wouldn’t even know how to react to these tags.”
The man has dated the likes of Dia Mirza and Neha Dhupia. Elaborating about the relationships he says, “Yes, I dated Dia and Neha for about two or three years and the relationships were beautiful. However, some things aren’t meant to be I guess. We are still great friends and that’s what really matters.”
Bunty now owns his own celebrity talent management company Cornerstone. He wants to exploit the full potential of the industry and if all goes well, have a production house of his own someday. “No one has explored the industry in a holistic sense and I plan to do just that,” he signs off.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
