An aerial twist to tic-tac-toe
Playing a bizarre version of two-player half court basketball on a rug at home turned out to be more exercise than I imagined. Our launchers were placed almost a foot away from the net grid.
Playing alternately, we aimed for the baskets (3x3-inch basket grid) and missed every time. Fourteen times in a row, I scrambled to retrieve the pink and orange balls that soared over the stand, and bounced their way under sofas, tables and into the adjacent room.
Action Zone Duel Shoot Out at `495 is a fun addition to my collection. It involves an application of the principles of trajectory, acceleration, and general motor skills of an above-average standard. Playing with five balls each, we launched in turn. The highest scoring baskets are in the central row. Ambitiously, I aimed for the 100 points basket, and was overjoyed to finally land in a 20 point basket after bouncing off the backboard.
Imported from Hong Kong, these Funville Game Time games are suddenly all over the local retail stores. I picked a couple of their titles. This one turned out to be a good buy. I’m hoping the next title will not disappoint.
To win, you either score the most points (determined by the baskets you land in), or by being the first to complete a row, in an incredible aerial tic-tac-toe twist! As it turned out, I was beaten by an opponent who lucked into scoring a row, and who exasperatingly insists she planned it that way. Waiting for a re-match to settle this.
