40 plus and still going strong on marriage
They say it is never too late to fall in love. But considering the marriage dynamics of this country, falling in love and then getting married is quite a tedious affair. With many couples preferring to get married in their late 20s and early 30s, a new portal has come up for women above 35 and men above 40 titled 40plus matrimony.
An initiative by the Bharat Matrimony group, the portal was launched last week.
Murugavel Janaki Raman, CEO of Bharat Matrimony, attributes this to the new-age couples who hardly keep any conventional expectations and are looking for stability. “People in this age group come from highly successful backgrounds professionally and hardly keep any expectations like young married couples. Like, they do not look for financial compatibility and don’t care about matching horoscopes either. They have been there, done that. Now, they want to move beyond the usual set of stereotyped notions,” says Raman.
Tanisha Majumdar, an advertising professional, is quite sure of what she wants in her partner. “At 40, I have examined all my choices, turned them upside down and I can say I am pretty sure about myself now. And at this age you know that love at first sight is not always that fruitful. You are independent enough to weigh your choices, even if it’s by uploading your profile, because you can spend time getting to know the person and see whether it works,” she adds.
