Two cops get life term for killing youth

The Lalbag additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in Murshidabad on Friday gave life sentence to two police personnel for beating a youth to death. Additional district session judge Sheikh Ali Reza awarded rigorous life imprisonment to the two police personnel who had killed a youth on July 29, 2003.

Public prosecutor Abdul Khaleq said that Ranjit Biswas and Bijoy Chowdhury had beaten to death Mohobul Sheikh inside the Moya police camp under Lalgola police station area.
At first, the police had not taken any action against them. Later the victim’s elder brother, Rabban Sheikh appealed to the Murshidabad district judges court which took over the case.
