Tutor held for ‘rape bid’ on student

A private tutor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a Class 5 student at Masila village under Khandghosh police station area of Burdwan. The family members of the victim, however, claimed that he had tried to rape her. The incident once again raised the question of safety and security of girls in West Bengal. have sought for justice with the police.

According to sources, private tutor Bikash Ghosh on Tuesday had gone to the victim’s house to give her lessons. He was teaching her at a separate room. Suddenly when the girl’s mother entered the room, she found him misbehaving with her daughter. Immediately she raised and alarm and her shouts for help attracted the attention of the neighbours who rushed to her place. The teacher was caught and handed over to the police.
The police sent the victim for medical test to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. The accused was produced before the Burdwan session and district judge court which remanded him in police custody till December 21.
