Patients’ relatives drugged, robbed
The relatives of four patients were drugged and looted by some miscreants at the Berhampore State General Hospital on Wednesday.
The miscreants looted Rs 24,000, ATM cards and mobile phones from the four persons whom they offered biscuits laced with sedatives. All four — Akali Das, Quddus Ali, Rejaul Haque and another unidentified person — had come to the hospital to meet their patients.
Berhampore inspector-in-charge Mohaimenul Haque said, “Few youth befriended them and offered them biscuits. Soon the four become unconscious. Later they were admitted to the Berhampore Sadar Hospital. While three of them are gradually recovering, Rejaul remains unconscious.”
Rejaul’s family members claimed that all the looted items belonged to him. The police suspects that the miscreants knew that he was carrying Rs 24,000 with him and he was the main target of the robbers.
As Rejaul hails from Goas village under the Islampur police station area, they have been informed to look into the possibility of a local gang being involved in the crime.
