Maoists kill CPM supporter

The Maoists intensified their movement in West Midnapore on Friday. Suspected Maoists killed a CPI(M) supporter and torched three vehicles in two different places across the West Midnapore district. A culvert, a few kilometres away from Lalgarh, was also blown off by suspected Maoists on Friday morning.

CPI(M) supporter Santosh Dutta, 48, was dragged out of his home at Banshpahari late on Thursday night and stabbed. He later succumbed to his injuries on the way to Bankura Khantra Hospital. The police suspects this to be the handiwork of the Maoists.
Meanwhile, the West Midnapore district police has claimed that the security personnel who escort the persons accused in the Gyaneswari sabotage might be attacked by the Maoists.
