FB starts Bharat Yatra against UPA corruption
A day after the Marxist party described the Congress-led UPA government as “synonymous with corruption”, the Forward Bloc (FB) also came down heavily on the Congress calling it as the “most corrupted regime”.
“The UPA government led by the Congress party with its pro-rich economic policy and adherence to neo-liberalised reforms, cannot offer any solace to poverty-stricken hungry unemployed youth. On the contrary, fresh corruption scandals involving the higher echelons of the government, are coming out everyday,” Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh said on Tuesday.
Against the backdrop of “this unprecedented series of corruption,” the party has launched a 28-day Bharat Yatra programme from August 9 to September 5. “This yatra can offer us the best way of campaigning against this unprecedented series of corruption and can give a clarion call to the people to fight against it unitedly,” Mr Ghosh said.
There will be three main yatras — Kanyakumari to Delhi, Agartala to Delhi and Kashmir to Delhi — which will focus on the slogans: To end Fear, Hunger and Corruption; To protect the Rights of Water, Forest and Land and Declare January 23 as Desh Prem Divas; Accept the Mukherjee Commission Report on Netaji’s disappearance and the relevance of Netaji’s political philosophy.
At the end of the yatra, the party will submit memorandum to the President and the Prime Minister at New Delhi urging the government the address the people’s day-to-day problems and their livelihood.
