Dacoits loot Rs 39 lakh in daylight

In a daring dacoity, Rs 39 lakh were looted by a gang in Kharagpur. The daylight robbery took place at around 12.30 pm in Malancha Road area of Kharagpur town.
The personnel of a private security agency were bringing the large sum from Big Bazar shopping mall to deposit in a private bank.

As soon as their car entered the alley where the bank is located, six motor-cycle borne dacoits surrounded it. All of them were armed. One member of the gang hit the driver and asked all of them to come out. Before the security guard could fire, one of the dacoits used his gun injuring one of officials carrying the money, S Bhattacharya. He was first taken to Kharagpur general hospital from where he was later shifted to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Additional superintendent of police Murlidhar said an investigation has been launched.
