2 top Kolkata doctors held for AMRI fire
Two top city doctors who were on the AMRI Hospitals management board were arrested by the Kolkata police detective department on Friday morning.
A court later remanded them to seven days’ police custody. The two are Mani Chhetri, 92, managing director of the ill-fated hospital, and Pranab Dasgupta, 60, one of the directors.
Dr Dasgupta, a gynaecologist, is also president of East Bengal Club. With their arrest, the total number of accused held for the AMRI Hospital fire, in which 93 people were killed, has gone up to 13.
