Woman held for getting SIMs to T Nazeer
Palarivattom police on Wednesday arrested a woman for supplying SIM cards to Thadiyantavide Nazeer in Ernakulam sub-jail.
The arrested was identified as Shahina, 33, earlier known as Deepa Cherian of Pandalam. She was arrested from a rented house at SRM Road here.
According to police, Shahina came to Kochi after marrying one Jijo of Aluva eight years ago. However, she got acquainted with one Noushad two years ago after Jijo got a job abroad.
She had been staying with Noushad, an accused in several drug trafficking cases, till he was arrested in January.
He was put in the Ernakulam sub-jail where he befriended several terror accused lodged there. It is learnt that Noushad was also pooled into the team.
It was Noushad who asked Shahina to get two sim cards while visiting him the next time. She, with the help of her friend Arun in Palarivattom collected two SIM cards without valid ID cards and passed it on to Noushad.
It is learnt that Thadiyantavide Nazeer made several calls to Gulf countries and Pakistan using these SIM cards.
They were later confiscated by the police and the call details were tracked. The intelligence team had found out that the SIM card was taken from the Vodafone office in Palarivattom.
On inquiry, it was found that the card was taken by Arun without submitting the ID proof. He was arrested by the police last month.
Once Arun fell in the police net, Shahina went into hiding. The National Intelligence Agency and state special branch had been searching for her for the last one month.
